This is something that obviously has a strong emotional meaning for the club and effects no other team in any form of disadvantage. The Southern League can easily grant this request, refusing to do so is an example of thoughtles jobs worth mentality withought an ounce of logic or compassion!

Depression is an illness if the lad had died of cancer sure they would have allowed them to retire the shirt.

I cannot see a good reason why the club should no be granted this dispensation. It will not affect the football in any way and would not provide AFC R&D with an unfair advantage. When outfield players can wear so many different numbers, what on earth difference does it make if the keeper wears another number. C'mon Southern League, think this one through and support us.

I had the pleasure to work with Dale for one season, and if what is called our beautiful game , cannot recognise his clubs wishes as a show of respect for Dale and his family , then it's a sad day for our beautiful game !!!

The last photo I've taken of the No 1 Diamonds shirt is of Dale wearing it. It should remain that way, and hopefully the League and FA will respect the wishes of the club and Dales family.
