With regard to bereavement the wishes of those who were closest to thar person in life should be treated as paramount. I would ask the Southern League to reconsider their decision.

A player treasured by a football club, who they are trying to remember with a lovely gesture, yet idiots in suits can't accept it because they are traditionalists. Good luck Rushden and Diamonds, let's hope the FA see sense and support you!

Let common sense prevail! There is little enough genuine respect in this world. What gives this league committee the right to over-rule a club decisison to retire a shirt number and to cause so much upset.

An abhorrent and prehistoric stance within the modern game. The league and its committee should hang their heads in shame. It's acts of compassion like this that keep football connected with reality. Best of luck with the petition and I hope the outcome is a positive one. Regards and all the best.

Any club should be able to decide which squad number to assign to which player and subsequently which numbers not to use, the decision to insist on the number 1 to be assigned disgusting and should be overturned.
Please change your decision out of respect
