i can understand why certain rules are in place, but to not make a small adjustment to a rule that is done for the reason afc r&d have done is a joke

I'm a Kettering fan but I don't care who you are or who you support, this is to do with more than football and is not right.

Show some respect Southern League - crazy decision which makes no sense & shows no compassion! From a Kettering Town FC loyal follower.

Allow AFC Rushden to remember Dale as they want. It causes no confusion (a substitute keeper would have another number). As a Kettering Town Fan there is rivalry but on this matter I'm sure we are 100% behind AFC R's way of remembering a young talent.
Other clubs have done it with other numbers, why not the number 1 shirt?

As a goalkeeper myself, if the team before afcrd have retired a number and afcrd want to honour it out of the memory and player LET THEM! There is no respect there from the southern league what so ever

Why should the Southern League care what number the keeper wears? Doesn't do anyone else any harm whatsoever. Overturn the decision.

What difference does it make to the Southern League? Not the slightest. Power mad men in blazers

Ridiculous regulations. Why does every team REQUIRE a number 1? What difference does it make to anyone if a squads players have different numbers? Good luck on trying to honour Mr.Roberts by retiring the shirt, hopefully with enough support we can get the league to show some form of compassion.

RIP Dale
hartless & tactless decision, totally senseless bureaucracy please change the decision
respect the clubs wishes in retiring a fellow keepers number!!! RIP Dale
Let dales number be just his. This is a mark of respect the club and fans have shown for Dale, let them have it.
Great tradition. Don't see why it's hard to accept.
