A Match number should not matter that much as to disrespect a club honour such as Dale's. I can not see one club complaining based in its circumstances what so ever, don't be silly, do what is right.

Clubs should be allowed to retire a number at anytime. Most league rules state that all match shirts should have a number on the shirt it doesn't stipulate a goalkeeper must wear a number 1 shirt!! Good Luck Dennis Chairman AFC Wimbledon Ladies & Girls

Seems like a small thing to ask for such a compassionate and honourable reason.

Have some respect for the family of a well-loved, talented young man whose life was tragically cut short in its prime. Fans above bureaucracy. From a Guernsey FC Manelander.

Disgusting behaviour from the league in not allowing the other number to be used . God forbid someone in their own family ever suffer from depression! The retirement of the no1 shirt was a fitting tribute to a well respected individual !

Dale was dear to the fans and deserves every respect. A small gesture from officialdom can go a long way. come on FA show your heart. Ampthill Diamond

With so many other regulations seeming to be a bit loose it is a touch insensitive to force this one to be imposed.

The Southern League should show some compassion and common sense, it's not a difficult rule to amend.
