I'm a paid up member of another London Club and have no particular affection for R&D, but this seems to be a purely bureaucratic & insensitive undermining of a club tradition. And what is a football club without it's traditions?

A quite ridiculous decision, allowing dogmatic adherence to rules to get in the way of common sense and basic human compassion. The Board should reverse its decision at once.

What difference does it make the shirt number the goalkeeper wears? Surely out of respect for Dale Roberts and his family the respective league could carry on the tradition and show some sentiment too.

On the pitch it is 'just a number' so who cares if the keeper wears 2 or 99. Off the pitch the number 1 clearly has greater meaning and is left vacant as a sign of respect. Please let morals win through.
