Petition against the proposed parking charges to Barry Island

The proposed charges are off putting and detrimental to visitors to Barry Island and to regular visitors using the beach and local facilities.

Parking charges will stop people coming here, local people come to walk their dogs, grab a coffee & lunch etc. Help to promote Barry not close it down. Please !!!!

This will be the downfall of Barry Island - such a shame as it is now such a great place to visit.

Charging on top of the increase in council tax etc each year is so bad!

This is just another way of ripping people off.

This would be bonkers for our town and the community it's ridiculous

Not only do I enjoy going for a walk with the dogs and my family but I'm also a childminder IN Ely and we absolutely love come to Barry Island after school or in the holidays during the warm weather and winter months, these charges will put an almost stop to our regular visits as my job isn't a very high or well paid job so my hard earned money will have to go to this which to be honest is extortionate and an absolute joke!

It's ridiculous, charging all that money, the council needs to take a pay cut from their own salary instead of making the hard working people pay !!

Against new parking charges

living on barry island. Parking on and around nell’s point housing estate in summer and bank holidays already a nightmare when busy.

Not a great idea to charge. We live is such a lovely place and to be able to go to the beach as and when with no worries about parking or to the shops etc For me and many others the thought of paying to park will out me off visiting. Which would be a knock on effects for the businesses. Such as you visit the beach .. more often then not you grab a coffee, ice cream or stay for lunch etc. Im use the beach alot some times 5/6 times a week but id definitely not if I've got to pay for parking. Same as using Barry town for shopping. Let's hope this doesn't go ahead..

Stop trying to destroy Barry just to line your pockets

You will find more people parking outside our houses the people living on the island. Bad enough as it is !

If you want businesses to survive this is definitely not the way to go, people will not pay for parking . Barry Island is starting to regain its identity again dont take that away ! (Just look at holton road)

The parking costs are ridiculously high

More money for tou thecouncil, which means less visitors for Barry.. So inturn you will have less money for yourselfs in the long term.. Surely in the long run it’s ridiculous to charge. #greedy

Having recently moved to the Barry Waterfront development it was apparent that visitors to the Island were already looking for free parking by parking along the residential access roads. This made access quite difficult by reducing the capacity of the access roads to one lane. By introducing parking charges this issue is highly likely to get worse; displacing cars to residential streets.
