Petition against the proposed parking charges to Barry Island

Stop trying to ruin local businesses!

What are you thinking VOG? If you deter visitors by making parking so costly, all the colourful beach huts in the world will not draw valuable visitors into our wonderful town. I can only guess you need additional funds for more underused cycle paths or yellow paint to miraculously fill the cavernous pot holes?

I need to park to walk my large dogs. It would be very expensive as a pensioner ,

Way too expensive and will mean more people park in the residential streets! Parking should be free during the Winter months.

No need for these charges.

Parking charges as proposed by VoCC would be the death knell to Barry Island as a visitor or residential attractions, leading to demise of traders livelihoods and any aspirations of a premier day trip or holiday resort resulting in a loss of net income to the VoGC. The proposal is short term grabbing of income. Suggest the. VoGC think longer term. Regards Stuart McMillan

Crazy idea.

I think this will have a detrimental effecy on loval businesses cause hardship to viditors cause caos with illehal parking & possible make people avoid our lovely Whitmore bay & Jackson bay. I think its disgusting thst the council arr monry grabbing as usual

Bringing car park charges to Barry Island is going to be so detrimental to the businesses should we not be encouraging people to these places? Rather than causd hard ship to visitors, driving them away & causing more caos in the vecinity which illegal parking & blovking of peoples homes.

Not good for our area at all. What a way to attract people to the Vale?

I always use the 2 hour free parking to visit the shops for lunch. I would visit less if charged

This is a ridiculous idea from the council, as many others have said this will effect local businesses very negatively, do the council want them to close or do they just want to keep their pockets lined, surely there is another way to raise money!

Hairbrained idea which will ruin businesses in BARRY which In turn will mean a council tax hike on residential properties to maintain council jet set spending inc their fabulous final salary pension which should be abolished to safe money. Appalling decision

Please don’t raise or instigate new car parking charges. It will ruin the small businesses of Barry Island who have stuck with it for so many years.

Parking charges in ALL of Barry including the town centre will finish off any business left in Barry, theres not a lot to encourage people to visit Barry at the moment to have to pay for the pleasure is beyond belief, I live in the town centre and even I don't venture to the shops unless for a 5 minute stroll

I am against the introduction of parking fees on Barry Island. It has taken a lot of hard work to regenerate the island! This proposal will undo all that work. The excuse that it will encourage people to use public transport and cycling is rediculess. What about people who can't afford public transport or are unable to cycle?

Very negative proposal and will cause much distress to local businesses as they will lose custom and besides that locals will not visit as often if they have to pay all the time. Not at all in favour.
