This would put us years backwards after so much has been achieved in the last 5 years.

My in laws live near the island and it is already difficult to park on their street when we want to take our daughter to see them. This would only increase with the proposed plans

The parking charges are a wonderful idea if you want to finish destroying businesses on Holton Road, destroy the livelihoods of those operating on one of the most independent high streets in the UK, and put an abrupt halt to the regeneration of Barry Island.
Absolutely atrocious money grabbing idea. This should not pass.

Living in Marquis Close I fear these parking charges will make parking in the street I reside even harder. People park here to use Jackson's Bay and avoid paying parking charges at the Island. We residents are often left with nowhere to park and believe the street should be permit holders only! The introduction of parking charges will make our situation much worse and this is hardly fair given how much council tax we pay to live here.

I use the beach twice a day I'm a pensioner and this will stop me from going as there are never any free parking spaces only if weather awful.

We need to be encouraging people to visit Barry, not drive them away with parking charges.

We come to Barry island regularly and are never less than an hour but as we are local don’t tend t onstage all day. Unfortunately we wouldn’t visit as regularly if we had to pay £6 for 2 hours or more, if there has to be a charge it should be lower for fewer than 6 hours

This is the beginning of Gentrification of the area... Locals will soon be priced out of their own area and independent small businesses will be impacted. This is a very bad Idea. Im sure the WHOLE community would be against this.
It's the people that voted the council in, so please listen to them!

This charge will hurt locals and reduce activity and trade. The way to build the island up is to encourage regular local visitors - this will prevent that. Give residents permitted areas as off Hilton road and keep the car parks and charge free for at least two hours and then low after that per hour.

The charges are extortionate, why don't they have an hourly charge paid for before leaving, especially on the island car park

Always target the motorist as if we don’t pay enough as it is

Strongly feel this will ruin trade over the island and across the Vale. This council is disgusting.

It will stop a lot of people going for short coffee and cake trips, Also those with limited mobility will struggle with the time you have to get back before your money runs out. Disgusting, just as shops and vendors were starting to make a go of things.

We are a multi generational family from Barry. I do not want our tourist places of interest to decline again because of the councils decisions (not the people of Barry)and this will happen if these parking charges go ahead. Local people and tourists should be able to park with ease and no cost and not have to pay high costs to park. Our family and many more families in Barry are on low wages cannot afford parking charges to add to costs to a much needed family day out.

A shortsighted idea of revenue stream from the council. It will be counter productive as it will deter users from visiting the island and in turn hit businesses on the island, which in turn will negatively affect the local economy. This in addition to the disruption of residents slightly further afield from the main "tourist" part of the island as visitors will try and park outside of the charge zone on local streets and cause a nucience.
