There are many ways for the Vale of Glamorgan council to make money from Barry, penalizing visitors as well as local residents, is incredibly short sighted. The proposal of parking charges shows that there has been very little thought about the impact on traders who have spent many years helping to improve and build Barry Island's reputation from the run-down, deprived area that it once was to a vibrant, bustling place that is visited by locals and visitors in all seasons.

Two hrs free parking to go to the cafe and play on the beach most days in the summer. This won’t happen if we need to pay parking.

Paying for parking will make it less likely for me to bother visiting most parts of Barry even though I live there.

Disgusting, as a Barry resident I tend to visit the island more so in the winter months to avoid the crowds and help traders. This will defiantly put me off!

I've been going to Barry (Island & Town) recently and this will play a big part in me not returning - I love Barry and was actually thinking of moving there, however with all of this uncertainty over parking leads me to look and go elsewhere. I'll be happy to write a statement for you if you wish

Paying for parking will make me visit Barry Island less and as a result visit local businesses less. Please don't ruin Barry Island!

I do not support the proposed car parking charges. It has been great to see the use and popularity of the island increase over the last 10 years. The charges will be detrimental the progress that has been made.

Council tax is going up massively, services are being cut and now they are chagging for parking which could prevent people from using the free facilities we do have. Cosmeston, Barry Island, Park Run. Its unnecessary.

On average a general walk around the Island, cup of coffee or ice cream would take 2-3 hours. People will think twice or not visit as frequently if they have to pay £4 and will be detrimental to the recent good profile of the Island.

Residents should not pay for parking when already paying council tax. Parking charges will worsen problem.

This is a terrible mistake and will heavily impact on the footfall of out of location visitors to the resort.

The business throughout the winter is a struggle enough, if these charges were to only last the summer period this would be much more understandable. Slack planning from council yet again!
