It is disgraceful that this is being brought in when we have already had a massive jump in Council Tax!

Don’t allow the council to recoup their costs of the regeneration by passing it on to visitors . These charges will deter them not encourage them to visit

After all the money and time invested, especially by the traders on Barry Island, why discourage people from visiting and supporting local businesses by introducing higher parking charges? If this happens it will ruin the livelihoods of those who have managed to put Barry back on the radar again. Absolutely ridiculous! Please think again Vale Council.

Absolutely disgusted it's our town, how dare our overpaid councillors charge us to visit any part of it.

I fully oppose these charges. As a member /coach of Whitmore Bay SLSC I am there a minimum of 5 days per week teaching our youngsters valuable surf life saving skills & throughout the winter we still train come rain or shine. Aside from that i run with Seriously Mad Runners & Barry Island & surrounding areas we meet to start our runs there. We also go regularly to walk our dog. It literally is our 2nd home! We can't afford to park there every day to do valuable clubs that assist the wider community.

As new business is coming to the Island this will discourage so many and have an adverse affect on such business. Schemes should be introduced to attract people not drive them away.

Barry council should be ashamed of themselves. If they are trying to destroy tourism completely (and let's face it, they haven't done a bad job so far) then that is exactly what they will achieve!

Barry Island is getting busier year in year out. But this will hit local businesses, especially in the winter months

I can't see how this is supporting local trade and encouraging local families to take their families - and their cash - to Barry Island.

Absolute disgrace, may as well make the island a waste land since no one will be willing to park over there.

Imposing these charges will put off a lot of locals/visitors including myself from popping over the island/the knap regularly in the evenings!

Barry residents should get free parking all year round. It’s us that has to pay or volunteer to clean the mess left over the summer period and it’s us who keep the cafes etc going over the winter period as we visit most days

This council is determined to drive people away by car park charges. We need visitors to help the local businesses. They already take enough off residents with the council tax.
