It will put off local dog walkers from coming to the island thus reducing trade to local businesses
Less visitors who would normally come regularly may seldom visit now

The council may need to balance their books but these charges will only serve to destroy the only asset left to the town ...

We wouldn't be doing as many visits as we would usually as we travel from Caerphilly and refuse to pay extortionate prices parking as well as petrol. We always just pop down many of times for either a full day or just an ice cream. What a shame!

There is no point in spending money to make the Island attractive to visitors, to then put parking charges that will deter visitors

Keep visitors coming to the island and keep the parking free

Typical of the council to not realise the impact that this will have on businesses over there. What about the people who volunteer for the park run and the cleaning the beaches, it would cost them a fortune. Ridiculous!!

I take my dog over the island for a run but if you charge for parking I will go where I don't have to pay which is a shame as the cafes and other amenity need our suport all year round, not just when the visitors come with the nice weather. Barry people like to enjoy the island all year round so I don't think it's fare to make us pay. The island struggled after Butlins went now it's thriving again the council are being greedy, it's not fare on the long term effect of the traders or the Barry community.

I am disabled and visit Barry Island it does not say if we get Disabled Parking. I understand they need to charge to bring in money but they will lose money if the charges are to high. I think £5 for the day during Summer months is fair and £3 for the day in the Winter months. Pushing people to park in residential areas is a bad idea as well. There is a lot of waste land that could be used as extra parking. The impact on the local amenities would also be hit as people would not bother to go in to Town. The Station has a restoration programme and Model Railway Shows hold their event on the Platform. It is bad enough now for them to park the hike in charges would just kill it. So I ask the Council to really listen to the people and reconsider their views.

This will be detrimental to all Island businesses. Councillors should look at encouraging people to Barry not stopping them.

I am a local, and this will now mean I will not visit the island with my children.

I have two holiday flats in Barry Island. The rental agency tells me the single most important factor is free parking. If the new parking charges damage my successful business, I will sell up. My guests use the local shops, cafes and restaurants throughout the year: we are just as popular during the winter as in the summer. So much damage for so little return.
