This is just going to ruin businesses. A cheap day out with kids in the summer becomes expensive now

You have worked so hard to build up the Island and now, this will deter so many people from free dog walking, visits to cafes etc. It's well known fresh air and being out and about helps mental health and loneliness. I wonder how much money is saved in public spending for Mental Health because of free and easy trips to walk by the sea, to sit in Marcos cafe and see a few smiley faces etc. Money has been put into encouraging fitness and exercise for healthy active lifestyles. So many in Barry are out and about walking, using the beaches for a healthy stroll, or park run, or scooter ride but now will be charged to do their daily exercise. It seems so counter productive. If you charge, many won't be able to justify going regularly - yes £2 each time adds up. That will definitely have an impact on many local people.

People will use out of town shops! Keep the small places alive & thriving by the offer of free or cheap parking.

Having invested significant money to make Barry Island a popular ‘must go’ location again, introducing car parking charges will dramatically reduce footfall and will be the quickest way to see its decline again.

A good way to kill the ailing town centre, and set back the island resort

Absolute no thoughts for any business in Barry Island and the town it has gone downhill no wonder people shop out of town Where does the council tax go We get nothing only rubbish and recycling collected No flowers on roundabout or any thing around town to make it look better and appealing for people to visit But nothing to come for and charging for parking will be less appealing for visitors The valleys have better shoppping towns car parks and flowers !!

Parking charges will detrimentally affect trade in Barry and the Island. The council should spend its energy lobbying the government for more funding, instead of expecting the public to make up the deficit caused by austerity

It will be the final nail in the coffin, if parking charges are introduced!

Absolutely ludicrous! It's not fair, it will definitely put locals off from enjoying their surroundings.

Absolutely unecessary and inconsiderate for all generations. Will the older generation be able to sit in their vehicles and experience beautiful fresh sea air, enjoy the scenery and enjoy watching the bustling beach and prom on a nice day? Simple answer; introduce charges and this pleasure will be lost forever. Think again, come up with new ideas to increase funds. This suggestion totally impacts on the community of Barry for a multitude of reasons. Great shame .

This policy will undoubtedly reduce the number of visitors to this beautiful location and ultimately will impact the local businesses that rely on their trade. Such a poor decision by the decision makers who came up with this proposal. Surely there are other ways for the Council to stop this madness and find other ways to find funds from other ways which won't enrage their tax payers. Suggestions ?
