This will have the opposite effect of generating income for the vale. Businesses will close due to reduced footfall and the vale will lose valuable rates income. Think outside the box vale of glamorgan.

Lived on the island growing up and have family and friends there, go over most days to walk my dogs ! Completely ridiculous and unecessary for the locals who support Barry island all year round!

This is just a revenue earner for the council, they don’t care about the people of the vale. They can save money by getting rid of half the management.

How to kill off barry as a seaside town in 5 years. but i suppose when all the businesses close when they have no customers you can sell the land to housing and garner more council tax.
With plans for cosmenston as well where can local council tax payers enjoy where they live without paying any covert taxes.

Charges at other coastal areas also. No charges at Council Offices and a 1.9% pay rise. My council charge increased by 5,9% They are a #@*§$¥€ joke.

Why try to revitalise our high streets and tourist spots, then charge people to park. This will stop people from visiting these areas

As someone who lives just off the island I can tell you the push-on effect of these charges will be unbearable, we already feel it any time the sun shines or there is an even on the island.

With obesity rates on the rise, families should be encouraged to visit our outside spaces. They should not just be available to those who can pay. The beach and our parks are two of the few things still free to encourage people to get outside and be active. Now these are being taken away too.

After all this time and money spent trying to get Barry Island back to how it used to be,what sense would it make to agree to these parking charges??All I see is a greedy council who will use the Island as a cash cow!!! They should be encouraging people to visit not discouraging!!!
