I use the Island throughout the year - probably at least once a week and if I have to pay it's going to mean I support local businesses less - and quite possibly not at all.

This is going to kill the trade on the Island. The Traders have stuck it out all this time through thick and thin and this is their reward. It stinks.

Is it not enough that this thriving town, once a stunningly beautiful town be dragged down yet again by the greed of the council. Businesses close due to high rent, most places for children/teenagers closed down, now nothing for kids to do. Charges for the parking over Barry island is going to bring traders to close due to less people who won't pay these charges. But I'm sure that's the plan for the council to knock everything down and build more houses and nothing else but the beach. Shame on you!

Dog walkers and litter pickers will stop if we have to pay.

I go for lunch most Fridays down the island, which can take an hour, then walk my dog along the beach or headland. As a resident, I certainly won't be doing that and paying to park. You, the council, seem hellbent on destroying this town. All the traders will suffer. Like the town centre, it's dead. Scrap or minimize business rates to encourage businesses, which will bring in customers who spend money, who will then employ local people, who will then spend their earnings locally. It's not rocket science you numb skulls...

This is terrible, we should be helping local businesses. Having worked over there for 9 summers and finding it hard to be able to work park to work for the day, customers always raised concerns over prices being high before. So I can’t imagine they’d return if they were raised even higher. Greedy council!

There are many reasons for being against the charges. It would make more sense to make the first 2 or 3 hours free so locals who pay council tax are not unfairly penalised but charge day trippers from outside town. Locals would still walk, shop and use other amenities. This is especially true during the winter where most people using parking facilities are local and contributing through Council Tax. Those who travel to town, the island or The Knap, for example, from MOST of Barry need to drive and park. The proposals are not only penalising them but will reduce the amount of trade in these areas

Absolutely ridiculous charges. It would be understandable if this was in the car park in the summer but £10 to park all day all year round is obscene.

As a resident of the vale we should be exempt from paying fees to park in our own towns when we pay extortionate council tax rates

Why should we have to pay I live in Barry and we are always down Barry island but if I have to pay I won’t be going again I’ll find another beach

This is going to be very detrimental to the prosperity of the area.

Charges would reduce the potential for people to exercise & enjoy fresh air!

It’s the dog walkers who are there in the winter, why penalise them

We come to Barry to stay with our daughter and children and love to go to the beach and the shops . Putting parking charges at these places would stop us spending much time there ...=. Would stop us spending money at the local businesses...= negative thinking by the council . Common sense comes to mind .

This will put parents off bringing their children to a number of local lifeguard clubs including Whitmore Bay who train 5 days a week.

This is totally wrong, this council just seem to want to keep people away from this town. Constantly coming up with hair brain schemes. Start spending our exorbitant council tax on useful projects
