Barry Island and the surrounding area has only in recent times begun to flourish again so charging for parking may undo all the good efforts and dissuade visitors from the area.

Absolutely ludicrous this will destroy the local traders business people will not pay to walk there dogs or pay to go and have food and drink or ice cream after school . People just have not got the money for luxuries add on car parking they will go else where I certainly will be it stinks

The proposed parking charges will make Barry Island fail, a lot of tourists come down and spend money but they won’t do that any longer and the current businesses will cease to exist. Just the council trying there damned hardest to get more money as per usual!

I visit cafes on the Island on a regular basis all the year round..just to get out and visit friends..this will restrict my visits and will result in businesses fail!ing as they rely on locals through the Winter months..

I visit Barry Island about 3 or 4 days a week. I always have coffee and often have breakfast in the local cafes. If there is a charge for parking I will go elsewhere. I visit all year and dog walkers like me keep the local businesses afloat during autumn and winter.

Any increased revenue to the council from the parking charges will be more than offset by the rates lost to from the buissines s forced to close by the decrease in visitors .

Such a bad idea for both local people using the island for everyday life and tourist and those visiting sporadically. Would certainly influence my choice in going somewhere else to walk, buy food and coffee and shop.

Businesses in the island will lose a lot of trade from dog walkers to park runners as people will go elsewhere.

14th March - New car parking "approach" published on the Vale of Glamorgan website which will negatively impact the local businesses, their employees, local residents, wider community, dog walkers, volunteers for the numerous clubs, societies, park run, day trippers and tourists who traditionally come from less than well off backgrounds then deciding between £10 for a day's parking and taking the kids to the seaside or putting it towards food shopping for the week........
13th March - "Barry Island development site on show to international investors in Cannes" is published. Councillor Johnathan Bird talking about regeneration says "With such momentum behind our work we felt the time was now right to seek a higher calibre of investor for the Nell's Point site. We want to work with ambitious people with serious plans for the resort."
