I just can't get my head around this. We often pop down in winter with the scooters or for a walk, as it's a free activity. Charging us money just makes it unfeasible to do as regularly, infact it will just put us off. We don't have much dispensible income so £2 or £3 for parking for each trip makes a huge difference.

Parking charges such as this will ruin trade. I will have to walk my dogs elsewhere, somewhere free!

Look at the effects that increasing parking charges have had on other areas, such as Newport, and learn a lesson from that...

I attend a knitting club at coffee cove but I can't afford to pay for parking too. These charges penalise older people who often only meet up to see friends on the island and paying for parking would penalise older people.

I take my grandchildren to Barry regularly to play in the sand and have lunch. Sadly this would no longer happen if the charges were put in place. Think of us public please

I was so sad to see the parking proposals as they will effect me greatly . These area are where I take my dog for a walk . I like and need to walk everyday and have a variety of walking places. please rethink the charges or offer far more reasonable annual permits for Vale residents.

My husband does the FREE park run every week where volunteers give up their time to contribute to a nice event on Barry Island which brings people together. We normally bring our toddler and, while my husband runs, we go for some breakfast in Whitmore & Jackson. There are other local park runs with free parking - I can’t say that we will come to Barry island on Saturday mornings if the charge comes in. Such a shame and so short sighted for an area that is just starting to do well - the council aren’t even giving it a chance.

Not happy with taking any spare space and putting up houses, ruining the views. Barry resident's shouldn't have to pay to park their car in our own area

Ridiculous idea, this will impact the local businesses and hugely affect their income - as a result some may have to close. Sad times.

If the councillors took a cut in there wages there would be no need to implement car park charges on the people of Barry and visitors
