Petition against the proposed parking charges to Barry Island

It will destroy the trade for the island. Most families are struggling as it is. For children to go to the island for free and a day out is a treat that is affordable

So the council want us to shop local but charge us for it makes me wonder why we pay council tax really

This is such a bad idea. Regenerate the area. Don’t strangle it with tax.

Businesses will suffer and affect the town. This could turn into a ghost town . Very bad impression for holiday makers the town needs to be encouraged to attract visitors

Absolutely disgusting to start charging parking fees. There are already charging car parks on the island. Why should every space become chargeable. Think of all the businesses this will affect.

We need people to be encouraged to visit Barry for free easy parking, the,revenue of visitors would surely out weigh parking charges

This is terrible and will really effect business over the island. Why cant things just be left as they are, we pay enough taxes as it is. How will employees manage who have to park over there daily.

Ridiculous decision

Having parking charges all year round will kill trade over the island it’s not fair that we pay massive amounts of council tax then have to pay just to go for a walk over the island!!!

Vale of Glamorgan Council is out of control, it is obvious to us all that these charges will see less people visiting the Island all year round. Traders need the locals/visitors to survive, is it any wonder our rates are so high when the Vale has no basic management skills.

Winter is the hardest time for beach based businesses. Don’t destroy the buoyancy of winter visitors mainly dog walkers and walkers and young families getting some fresh air by parking greed. The resurgence of Barry island has been fantastic, don’t now stop it in its tracks.

This is the main attraction in the town and people are not earning alot especially the youth. Parking fees should be minimum and people on I come support should not need to pay. Do more to Barry to attract more tourists and charge them small fee

I thought the idea was to encourage visitors to Barry Island not to deter them from coming with rediculous parking charges!

Such a shame, I fully understand a cost recovery model but by killing local business and tourists doesn’t really fit the model!!

What is wrong with the existing scheme of charges? Let the island thrive.
