We should be encouraging people to visit the Island, we should be encouraging people to use the area to exercise, get fresh air and improve their wellbeing and we should be encouraging local trade and business. 1hr free parking will harm all of this, please reconsider Vale

Why? Every year council tax goes up in this town! Why should we pay to visit our coastlines etc.,

These charges will reduce the flow if visitors to the Island and therefore the customers for the Island businesses. Why oh why do the council keep making bad decisions for Barry?

These charges will discourage people from visiting the island or they may park in the residential areas.

As a life long resident I can see no benefits to the community in this initiative. The only benefactor is the council financially, which no doubt as a town we will see no sign of!!!
The town is slowly improving and local businesses such as those in Barry Island are the reason. This will be a huge blow to those businesses. Surely as a council you should be trying to support local businesses and attract new customers and visitors.

Charges between April and October are sensible given the numbers visiting the island who could do so by public transport, but not during the winter season when the island is pretty quiet. This should be reviewed.

Car parking charges proposed for Barry Island will reduce the numbers of visitors to this seaside area. The net effect will be to lower footfall and, therefore, income to Barry Island traders. It will also have harmful health impacts by reducing the propensity for visitors to enjoy the informal health benefits associated with walking. Vale residents are already paying inflation busting council tax and are now expected to pay extortionate car parking fees to offset the costs of ever increasing Council staff salaries. This is a poor policy, lacking in imagination and a very blunt instrument to balance the books.

I won’t be able to do any more litter picks in my own time as it will be too expensive to park

I use the beach regularly for dog walking and training, there is already a large car park that charges people. Why on earth does this need to be increased? We should be encouraging visitors/ tourists to visit our beautiful town. I understand the council needs to increase their meagre funds they now receive from government but please think of an alternative.
