Disgraceful
This will lead to more local run businesses losing money and closing down

See the bigger picture. People won't spend their money in the local shops/facilities because they've had to pay for parking. It's a fab place to visit and has really cleaned up its act these past few years. Dont spoil our local beach attraction by pricing us out the locals as we will go elsewhere. Then you'll have no-one paying to visit because it'll be a ghost town.

Normally walk my dog and have breakfast with the family. Not at Barry Island if I have to pay to park

Us dog walkers keep the Island’s businesses afloat during the off season. I’m not going to pay to park to walk my dog. This means I will be foregoing my cuppa, panini/chippy lunch afterwards to make sure I’m in & out within the free hour.

When I take my dog for a walk in the island, the charge of £6 after one hour will stop me using the cafes etc. This will kill the business in the off season which relies on people visiting for just a few hours.

I know funds are tight but why tax the use our beautiful and free outdoors forcing people largely the locals to go elsewhere - porthcawl?which may well happen?!? Council tax increase now a beach tax - what next. Please reconsider

I live local, and I go to Barry island alot for a short walk and a coffee. If the car park charge does come in I will not be using Barry island this is due to the fact t I use it alot and it would cost me a fortune and I am sure most of the locals feel the same way. Traders will lose business..

Might as well put up a huge sign saying visitors unwelcome! So much work and money has gone into regeneration of the island, the impact of parking charges would be dreadful.

What a shame to charge, you need tourists to come to support the town charging will drive them away.

I’ve rarely heard a worse idea. Barry is a dying town for business’s but through all that there are individuals still sticking it out. But now the Council want to make their money on the back of them and our beautiful area. It will DEFINITELY have an impact on visitor numbers both locally and away. Family’s will not be able to afford what was a cheap day out with crippling parking charges. So short sighted. Aren’t they earning enough with all the extra council charges on the hundreds of little boxes they are building on the waterfront! Greedy I say!

Pure greed by the council.
Council tax went up and whilst trying to get kid's and people out for health and wellbeing you put a charge on enjoyment!
