This will not only affect businesses in Barry and on the Island but residents in areas close by where people will look for free parking within walking distance of town or the island

For last 50 years or so Barry discourages visitors as well as locals. Utterly disagree charge for any parking.

We walk our dog over the island several times a week and grab a coffee afterwards. We would not continue to do this if the charges were implemented. This will obviously impact the local business adversely.

I think the traders on the island and at the knap will be sevey affecting by these proposed charges. It will make popping there for a coffee cost prohibitive and will push more people to shop / spend leisure time out of the area.

I’m showing my support for this campaign as I often visit Barry and have had many lovely days but with parking charges reaching £10 a day would be left with having to reduce the amount of visits

We also oppose the charges proposed for the Bron Y Mor car park as visitors popping down for a cup of coffee will not pay for parking. Our business will be in jeopardy as will the jobs we provide.

Businesses already struggling will lose out when local people, who provide regular income all year round, decide to stay away from the beach, from Cosmeston, from Porthkerry .... all places that we pay for through council tax. Barry Island was seeing a gradual revival, but these charges are the kiss of death, and the Council will lose more money from loss of business rates, reduced tourist footfall and an increased benefit bill to support those who were scratching a meagre living from seaside businesses. All those responsible for this proposal should be ashamed of themselves for this spiteful stab in the backs of local residents and businesses. They clearly have no interest in the health of the community, only in money.
