Petition against the proposed parking charges to Barry Island

As a regular user of the on road parking bays at Barry island the introduction of charges would seriously effect my visits to the beach for my regular exercise classses and visiting of the coffee shops and cafes

As a local dog Walker I think these charges are ridiculous

Barry Island is a thriving seaside resort. More people are coming to visit than ever before and we need to encourage that for the local businesses. At the moment The parking fees are a fair price. Raising them would encourage visitors to park at the new estate or outside peoples homes on the Island, clogging up the roads and making them impassable!!!!!!!

It has been proven that walking by the sea improves mental health & well being for so many - the money raised from proposed charges will be swallowed up by people needing medical help with depression etc. Foolish decision to bring in charges. There's so much fun to be seen on the island with everyone's stresses lifted for a while as they enjoy fresh air. Don't stop us who live here from seeing nature for free.

This proposal would severely impact local businesses and cause stress to the local residents by people finding alternative parking.

Please listen to the voice of the people of Barry. We really are looking after the long term benefits for local businesses, visitors and locals not just instant gratification that will have adverse consequences on Barry Island.

How do you expect small local businesses thrive, you are strangling them with this ridiculous proposal

This is only going to cause more congestion in the resi parking than there is already. This would be enough to stop me going on my daily walks to the island for a coffee.

Please don’t make our family trips to Barry Island any more expensive.

Save our local businesses by encouraging visitors with free parking.

If as a council park8ng fees are needed a cap of say £3 for the day would raise money and not make things to expensive to come and visit. First 2 hours free would also help as would no off season charge

My son lives on Barry island Plymouth rd when I go to visit I cannot park outside his house. It is not acceptable for the people that live on the island. The charges are much too high.

These charges are outrageous. Only the wealthy will be able to afford our parks and resorts. This will do nothing for the mental health and wellbeing of our community.

The council should be encouraging more people to visit local towns and beaches not introducing higher parking charges
