You will be driving people away from and not to our town and our beautiful beaches with these ridiculous parking fees.

Local businesses need all the help they can get. Why make it more difficult for them. Surely it's short sighted of the council. The more people who come and visit Barry Island the better in the long run. People will end up going else where

Ridiculous, the trade over the island will suffer dreadfully.

All these charges will put me off visiting Barry and surrounding areas. Adds unnecessary cost to what would be an already expensive day with children.

We need our town back and people to visit again.

Leave two hours free! Time for a walk and to give local business some trade. 1 hour will simply turn people away, especially regulars like me. Council getting it a bit wrong again. #misguided

This will have such a negative impact on small business’ and on local people who use the Island. Please don’t use the argument that we should ditch our cars and walk there! For the majority of families it’s so unrealistic. Working parents have limited ‘family time’ as it is and now and one of the most healthy assets we can give children - playing and running on the beach after school or for a few precious hours on the weekend will be restricted by financial pressure. This proposed cost implication will inhibit so many people who use the Island for exercise and recreation. Dog walkers, joggers, those trying to improve their fitness with a daily walk, Sunday morning Tai Chi, children’s life guard club, swimmers and paddle boarders will all have to build the additional cost into their budget. Medical practitioners and government guidelines all advise that we should walk more, exercise more and get out in the fresh air to increase well being and improve health. Why, when we have these facilities in our town should we be excessively charged to access them? If this is implemented how soon before it spreads to High Street, Holton Road, Victoria Park, Porthkerry, the Lake Romilly Park, Jenner Park, The Leisure Centre, the Memorial Hall and our ‘pretend’ so called Water Front development. Surely there is another way to create revenue. I would have thought that the most sensible way would be to create a vibrant town full of small successful business’ that each contribute to the economy, rather than try to deter new ones from opening and impede the ones that are here.

Hourly (reasonable) charge is a better option

Keep Batty Island alive, without visitors it will become a ghost town, think of another solution to increasing the Council's revenue, not the easy option every time.

As a local dog owner these charges will impact me massively and are very unfair
