Petition against the proposed parking charges to Barry Island

Absolutely ridiculous! Am I alone in wanting to boost the economy in Barry?! Supposed to attract visitors to the town not deter them!

Charging during the winter seems ludicrous.

If this comes in to force I stop going to Barry with my kids and I'm not alone

Why would councillors want to put people off coming to Barry by imposing parking charges. I thought tourism worked by encouraging people to visit but I guess this isn't the VOG council main objective ant more

Less people will visit the island, less people will walk their dogs. Discouraging local residents to walk around their favourite place

Stop the charges

These parking charges would be greater than Cardiff City Centre. I would be inclined to travel elsewhere than pay these rates on the island. Either that or park on the local streets and walk in. This would discourage cars travelling to the island (as probably intended) but people would not utilise sustainable transport in place of this and instead travel elsewhere. If the idea is to reduce traffic to the island, this will succeed; but at the cost to local businesses.

Local people will just stop visiting the Island

There should be limited time free. Winter rates. It’s going to push cats into residential streets leaving residents with no where to park.

This is unbelievable! The council have no idea and no interest in the community! They must have over spent on tea and biscuits again! Ridiculous!

Wish you would stop trying to milk money right, left and centre from people. You will damage the tourism there and end up making less money. There aren't many free spaces as it is, so cut out the greed!!

We visit Barry quite a lot ,we enjoy having breakfast on the front,and then going for a walk,we always end up at ,O,Shea’s Fish & chips for lunch,if they are going to start charging for parking.as pensioners I don’t think we could afford it anymore.

As an elderly pensioner I will not be able to afford to go to the island Especially on a Friday night which is my only night out when I go to meet friends for a social evening.

If this goes ahead al9t of people will stop using it and it will have a bad effect on the local businesses

Stupid Idea. Why spend so much money on improving the island and drawing people back to it, only to put charges into place that will quite obviously push people away??
