The new plan is not in the students and families best interest. A simple declining balance at all locations would be more beneficia .

When choosing a school, the flexibility of Miami's meal plan was a large factor. The fact that I could chose to eat in either an unlimited dining hall or only buy (at an affordable price) the amount of food I wanted helps me to maintain as healthy as an eating style as I can, at an affordable price.

This is NOT in the best interest of the student - it's in the best interest of the University. Maybe to pay for the new Freshman level pay plan? Why have restaurant style eateries under the meal plan if you're not going to allow them to use it equally?

I like the old style, they should not change it. If they want the buffets to be visited more, they should make better food.

For students who have classes non-stop and girls who don't eat like athletes, this puts an unfair burden on parents to pay more for food their child can't possibly eat. If my child has an existing balance each semester - then she has a plan and shouldn't be required to add more money. Right now we're more than 3/4 through the year and she still has $1100. Under the new plan I'd have to continue adding to that unused portion. What a waste!

As a parent of a current freshman, the new meal plan is a huge waste of money and inconvenience for my son and myself. He will end up leaving school and leaving behind money instead of being able to use that to purchase food. Please consider a more reasonable meal plan or stain with the current meal plan. This new plan seems to be no more than a way for Miami to make additional money off its students

I AM OUTRAGED. This is straight out of the Communist Manifesto, the entire Miami Board of Trustees should be ashamed of themselves. Our very salivation as a University depends on a meal plan consisting solely of a declining balance. #Trump2016, #notfeelingthebern, #icouldnotcarelessaboutthismealplanissuebecauseiamlivingoffcampusanddoallofmygroceryshoppingatkroger, #butitsfuntobeOUTRAGED, #lookingforwardtotheweekend

Dining halls aren't practical for my schedule throughout the day and I loved having the money to spend at a la carte option places this year. I like that the big upfront fee is disappearing, but I want to be able to spend my money where it's convenient to me!

Anything where you lose money on "swipes" sounds awful. I also live off-campus.

Over the past few years, Miami has spent a large sum of money to build new a la carte locations in the middle of campus (Armstrong, Maple Street). If this new meal plan is implemented, these new locations, as well as the ones currently being built in ASC, will receive significantly lower business and we just spent a great deal of money to pay for them. This feels like a waste of money to me and not utilizing the resources that we just created. While having a swipe system could work, many students prefer a la carte for the flexibility or choice and the convenience, especially during the 10 minutes between class. If this is implemented, there needs to be an option for those who prefer a la carte over swipes.
