Unfortunately Miami does not place an emphasis on being fiscally responsible as the cheapest meal plan is one of the most expensive college meal plans in the country.

This is taking away my freedom to eat where I want and what I want on campus. This is not what students desire in a meal plan, and its ridiculous to not actually consult students in making this decision

This takes away the freedom we have to make our own financial decisions with our meal plan. As someone who chooses to live on campus to be a RA, it's extremely frustrating to see that this is another decision and freedom that is being taken away.

I like that there will no longer be the $1,625 fee for having a meal plan, but I agree that the new plan in counterproductive to what Miami students need in dining options.
I think that being able to use a swipe at a la carte locations would be very helpful, as would having to-go boxes at buffet-style dining halls. What if the a la carte-style locations had a meal that you could purchase for one swipe? For example, at Bell Tower one could purchase an entree, side, and drink for the price of a swipe?

One of the reasons I chose Miami is because the meal plan offered more flexibility for a more decent price than other schools. This is just one of the many actions that has made me feel like profit is being put before student experience since I began my time here

I went to Ball State University my freshman year before transferring to Miami. All of their dining locations use the Block Swipe procedure and it was horrible. It does not give students flexibility and "forces" them to swipe at times they didn't need to so they wouldn't lose money. Keep the a la carte system but get a better designed program to not lose as much money

The new plan is financially punishing and will cost my family at least $2000 more than the current plan. The lack of flexibility for a busy schedule and those of us that do not live near a buffet location is unfair.

No option to select no meal plan and limits my selections too much. I enjoy al carte selections on campus.

As someone who can't afford the new meal plan but can afford the current one I have, keep the current one! The new one doesn't actually save you money (unless you get the lowest option which gives you terrible food options anyway)

I don't like this plan at all. There are very limited options and absolutely no wiggle room. When signing up for school, my parents and I were very upset with the options given to us because my brother (a sophomore at Miami) didn't have these retraints. Thank you!!
