Byron Davies AM is making a stand against the appalling mistreatment of horses in Gower.

By supporting amendments to the legislation concerning the control of horses roaming the local countryside, Byron is working alongside the RSPCA to prevent the shocking cruelty that these equines are at present the subject of.

By supporting an amendment to legislation which ensures these animals will be identified properly, Byron is supporting a huge step toward the goal of successfully establishing 'a fly grazing free Wales' which is an important step forward in promoting animal welfare, working to combat crime, and bringing an end to the completely unnecessary suffering of these creatures.

To keep up to date with Byron's progress fighting this cause, and to sign up for more news about how Byron is working hard to stand up for Gower, please visit www.byrondavies.org.uk and sign up to receive Byron's newsletter.

I have been hearing from so many people lately about what they see out in the fields and honestly it is just heartbreaking to know these horses are still suffering while we wait for the law to catch up. I am spending all my time trying to get the right people to actually look at these reports because the bureaucracy feels like it is moving at a snails pace and that just drives me crazy.

keep impounding the horses, if they cant earn off them they wont keep them, hit them in the pocket, thats the only time these people feel pain.

totally agree these horses are over bred and starving! We run a livery yard in the Gower and drive and ride past these horses daily. It's sickening through the winter months especially.

If they're owned they need compulsary micro-chipping, at the expense of the owner, then there is no avoidance of who's responsible for an animal when its ill and no claiming for the same animal if it's involved in an RTA, also there should be rules of grazing the same as for cattle and sheep, meaning if the owners don't have the land to keep the animals on, they can't be gazed on the common, only as many as they could keep on their land should be allowed on the common. i have many more suggestions if of interest.

I cannot believe that this is happening! In Gower of all places. Surprised that there hasn't been more on national television about this to raise awareness. I support the move to stop this wholeheartedly.

I came across a horse that could'nt stand up it was so weak. It was dead by the time the RSPCA came. It is appalling that horses are being left to suffer and no one is held accountable.

It's a good cause. I have been involved in several encounters with these poor old horses for whom no-one wants to take responsibility

Horses are created by GOD, and have been granted the inalienable rights to be treated humanely and mercifully, and to not be abused, brutalized, tortured, or otherwise treated unjustly or wrongly.

Because they should be treated humanely
