It is not appropriate or fiscally responsible to risk taxpayer's dollars on a high end golf course when we are in a persistent drought, water is scarce, and more people are moving into the Kanab area. This is economics 101. If a private citizen wishes to take on the risk of such a venture, then so be it. But not at the risk of community dollars.

The promised geological and hydrologist study of our available water has not been done Lake Powell bathtub is still draining. Haven't the TRT monies been allocated in the past before this project proposal? Why are TRT funds being directed at this project?. Who has OK'd the use of TRT funds ?Why don't we have a municipal housing authority before another golf course. Who owns the property adjacent to the proposed course site? Is this also a real estate project using public TRT funding to develop adjacent property? Why are we assuming this 20myear drought will not continue though NOAA projects continued drought. Are we going to be the Kanab we have cherished for it's rural charm or a suburb of St. George without a Wall Mart and Chucky Cheesy . This is not planned growth but a developers self interest scheme with no basis in fact that Kanab will remain the town everyone says they want,

Much of the state has been rationing water, limiting watering time so much that it's impossible for residents to adequately maintain their lawns. Under the current conditions, I can't imagine supporting a golf course anywhere in the state, especially not here.
Now is not the time and this is not the place.

I think the proposed course will waste precious assets and degrade the wildlife habitat at the reservoir. Just because the water rights can be secured does not condone frivolous usage of this precious resource. I am a golfer and have enjoyed playing for over 60 years, but I can’t agree that this course is a good idea.

Socialized golf is not a conservative value. Interest in golf is waning, especially in younger generations. This is a clear demonstration of rampant hubris at the water conservatory. Interested parties should find private funding for the project. Someone needs to have some skin in the game on a project like this!

If a private business wants to fund a golf course, give them the freedom to try but it should not be strapped on the backs of tax payers. Not to mention that the community has an eye sore from a failed venture already.

The first thing I think about when I see a golfcourse isn't the massive waste of water, which alone is reason to oppose it, but the vile chemicals used to keep said course so perfect & pristine. Even when 'recycled', the amount that isn't evaporated that is, this toxic soup will still be there polluting the earth.
