It's better to raise money then have the tax payers spend money controlling the herd by hunting is a long term solution

I have been hunting for 48 years and have tried many times to find a place to hunt on L.I. without success! they should make it easier with less paperwork involved.

There are much bigger issues than deer! Besides it is the humans that are invading the deer's habitat!

Dominick you have good intentions, but we Hunters, should not and will not pay anything. They have the problem, we have the solution. We will pay no extra fees, ban together!

Common sense should dictate that hunters be allowed to cull the herd within new sesonal dates.

There are enough more than willing, hunters right here on Long Island including myself who would love the opportunities to help manage the Deer population here. But because of all the restrictions placed on us as hunters it makes it very difficult to do so. One thing that really ticked me off ,and I do not understand is the crossbow season was opened on Long Island for the very first time two years ago. In hearing this I was very excited about it, and immediately went out and bought a new crossbow, the purchase price with all included ran around $3000.00. Only to hear that the season would be closed the following year, and again this year. How is it they will allow me to shoot a shotgun on Long Island during the special deer season in january, which I have done each year since I was 16. But they will not allow me to use a crossbow. Just wish they didnt open it at all, I could have saved all that money. Absolutely Rediculous !!!

This plan will not work period. Biologically and economically this is the worst idea ever put into place. The problem with the east end towns is they will not open up town owned land to out of town hunters. There are more than enough bow hunters on Long Island who want to hunt east end towns but are turned away. Worse than that, how is anyone supposed to target female deer in February when the males have already dropped their antlers? Proper conservation efforts need to be put in place, town land needs to be open to out of town residents. Charge a reasonable fee and make money instead of wasting it on some federal "sharpshooter" who won't know a deer from a great dane in the dark.
