I'm against this new rule. The latest RUUF draft fails to provide sufficient protections to the patients' / consumers' rights and interests. And it does not help in the development of pharmacy profession.

1) Prescription is mandatory to issue to patient. Government effort to promote "kenali ubat anda" is to increase the awareness among public towards their medication which proven to improve adherence and outcome of the treatment. This RUUF is against government effort and direction to create a knowledgeable and healthy society. Furthermore without prescription, patient cannot buy from cheaper sources such as retail pharmacy. Pharmacist or any other healthcare provider or even their family members can always cross check with patients medication instantly when the patients come to them. If the patient have prescription with them, we can tell whether patient is taking the right dose with the right medicine especially patient tends to confuse when there are changes in dose. They will tend to consume back previous prescribed dosage.
2) One drug has multiple indications. Dosage is varied according to different indication. If indication is not mandatory, how can a pharmacist or other healthcare provider give counseling or better advice to the patients? Health awareness among public has increased, people are seeking for nonpharmacological approach in addition to their current treatment. Besides that, with indication, other healthcare providers will be more comfortable to give advice rather than blind guess. Together we create a complete healthcare system where doctors are not a one man show. No one knows everything.
3) Pharmaceutical compounding must be carried by trained and certified personnel. For example, if a compounded cream looks good, it does not mean it is stable for longer storage and also whether the active ingredient is evenly distributed? Patient safety is our priority. Do no harm.
4) Psychotropic Medicines should not be dispensed by Prescribers. We need 2 layers of monitoring. Pharmacy cannot dispense without a prescription because every tablets count. They cannot get a fake prescription if the quantity is not tallied. But if an unethical doctor pres
