This is utterly ridiculous! I agree last minute cancellations, driving Locum rates down and now uniforms.

whilst I dont entirely agree with all the views expressed in the preamble, the idea that locums pay for the uniform is quite preposterous. Boots's attitude to locums has always been shambolic. Sadly, the way they treat their own staff is little better!

One of the main advantages of being a locum is having the freedom not to follow silly rules. Wearing uniforms will not make any clinical difference and instead will cause negativity- reducing productivity. Boots may not back down(pride may be an issue) but hopefully this petition will make boots concentrate on the bigger issues- e.g treating their employees better to lead to a more profitable and better business in the long term

Such a policy is not tolerated in any other healthcare profession. Medicine is a prime example, patients would not be happy if Doctors, Nurses and Healthcare Assistants wore the same uniform as it creates uncertainty, why should the same be tolerated in Optics?

A terrible idea instigated by someone who clearly has nothing better to do than to waste people's money and time.

These corporations have become too powerful. They have the governing bodies for opticians and pharmacists by the scruff of the neck- not to mention the government.

Such a terrible idea and awful uniforms. Boots opticians should direct their energies to improving the optometrist's journey when working as a locum in Boots opticians . it would be far better to improve staffing levels and attitude so that I meet friendly staff on arrival, the pre-screening is efficient and fast and that i can find a person to hand the patient over to . None of this happens at the moment. This would improve both optometrist and patient journey. Not some awful uniforms which we are expected to pay for.
unacceptable not only as locum but even as a resident
Ridiculous
Ridiculous move!
