Petition Against £30 Charge for Uplifting Brown Bins

We pay enough in council tax especially as there is now going to be a 3 % increase. Try cutting the salaries to the council fat cats!

I would prefer it if you took the bins away altogether, I only use my bin a couple of time a year and it is never full.. I would be paying for the fat cats with big gardens.

Cut your executive's entertainment budget first! If you go ahead and start charging this, you can come and take my bin away! I can't even afford the 3% hike in CT, let alone this.

The charge should be included in 3% increase in council tax.

3% increase in council tax is to cover services such as bin collection. Brown bin contents are actually a resource for the council

Can't they compost it and sell it back to us, as other councils do?

I will be phoning the Highland council to collect my brown bin, I can't afford £30 to collect a bin I already pay to have collected through my council tax!

Totally agree that it will increase fly tipping and I suspect also cause garden waste to be placed in the green bins.

Disgraceful decision - it will definitely increase fly-tipping AND put more pressure on all those on lower incomes!!

What is our council tax paying for?

They are trying to encourage us to recycle and save energy and they levy a £30 charge on us for complying. Next they will be charging for the blue bins. Ill keep my £30 thankyou.

My council tax is going to go up by 6% as e band. I only put my bins out once a month so already overpaying for the service.. What is going to happen to garden refuse and how is it going to be monitored some people don't pay, is it going to be left. Perhaps some councillors could take a packed lunch instead of claiming for meals. How much would that save???

As this is part of our council tax why should we pay more?! Hope this gets looked at and actioned!

I now dispare at the mentality of some of our councilors in Highland region. Why, before taking decisions like this idiotic brown bin tax did they not consult with constituents to gauge feeling regarding this extra burden on them. I have a Very small garden therefore have no need of a brown bin but am i to have this tax imposed on me whether i use the brown bin or not??!!.

Another example of financial mismanagement by the council. We will quite likely have to pay for the council to uplift the unused bins as well!

I believe that this is a move that will lead to more fly tipping and an increase in the land fill bins, which is counterintuitive to becoming a greener Scotland, reducing waste and increasing recycling. Can the HC not look to utilising the collected compost rather than doing away with it? I would like to see a different approach, and living in the Cairngorm National Park I would like to see our environment protected against the risks of fly tipping garden waste, which can easily contain invasive, non-native species, not put at risk of it.

Don't use it. Recycle and compost garden waste. Won't pay.
