The collection service is poor enough as it is with no glass permitted. A lot of people have no facility to transport garden waste to an official waste site therefore illegal dumping will significantly increase.

This will only discourage people doing the composting. In this day and age, council should be encouraging people to do it.

Are they going to collect this bin year round now not just in summer, if not they need to change the charge from yearly to seasonal

A £30 charge for emptying a bin which the HC want us to have in the first place. Bin liners and green wheelie for me. 1 less bin and more space in the back yard. Result

We pay enough in tax to councils and the government. Once they start charging extra for one thing what's going to be next.

I feel this charge is very unfair after all the council tax is supposed to cover our rubbish collections.

I feel this is yet another get rich quick scheme not properly thought through!! A further charge up and above the increase of Council Tax charges is hypocritical and outrageous!! This, if it goes through, will lead to no uplifts, how do you define who's paid and who's not? Who's bin gets picked up in the street and who's doesn't? Do the binmen have to then have a list of who has paid and who has not? Will this lead to arguments in the street, putting workers at risk? Overspill of garden Waste throughout the highlands??? The environmental health and hygiene to consider ....
go back to the drawing board and ask the public where they could see savings or indeed ways of making monies that may be a far better solution!!!

I am already facing a 10.5% hike in Council Tax as my house (valued at £185k) is for some reason in band E so, why pay again for brown bin collection which is already included in the tax Bill, this service has never been free as claimed by the Council. If we all pay £30 this year, what will it be next year £40 ? and £50 the year after?

There are far better ways the Highland Council could save money unfortunately the decision makers won't look at anything that they've got a vested interest in - Turkeys don't vote for Christmas

Surely this is what we pay our coucil tax for? So why should we be subjected to additional costs on top of our council tax. Its just not fair!

We are pensioners and would find it difficult getting our garden rubbish to the recycling centre on our own. We already pay our community tax and feel this should already cover the cost .I don't know how you would be able to police the whole system. I think it has been ill thought out and should not happen

Not only that, you can't take green waste to the dump without having a stupid piece of paper. It'll just go in my green bin instead.

If I charge Highland Council £30 per year for storage of their bins this will cover this rediculous charge.

This proposal will reduce recycling, increase fly-tipping and increase the amount of waste to landfill and landfill tax payments. HC could recover the brown bins that are not currently being used and issue out to households that don’t currently have access, thereby reducing the total amount of waste going to landfill and landfill tax payments.

Council Tax set to rise this year. Why are we being taxed twice for the waste disposal service.

This will result in fly tipping, more harm to the environment, damage to people or property, and nuisance to neighbours by people burning garden refuse instead of binning it. We are constantly being urged to recycle our rubbish so councils shouldn't be charging us to take it for recycling

This is disgraceful. I thought we already paid Council Tax for this service.
