Petition Against £30 Charge for Uplifting Brown Bins

Already pay through council tax

You have raised the council tax which is more than sufficient to cover this

This is a joke another 30 you are ripping us of for we pay council tax is that not enough

I believe the additional charge at £30 is unwarranted and will lead to additional fly tipping. Please arrange to uplift my bin before the new stealth tax commences as I will be unwilling to pay for this unreasonable secondary charge.

Totally ridicules as we pay already

A disgrace and people with children are going to struggle to find this money, especially as there's going to be a council tax increase this year. What next ....a charge for uplifting the green and blue bins too ? It's all very well to advise that if you don't want the brown bin and the charge that comes with it, to take your garden waste down to the recycling centre , unfortunately there are lots of elderly and infirm people around Inverness and they cannot do this because of ill health or lack of transport. So think on Highland Council , we did'nt request a brown bin in the first place. It was left at our gates for homeowners to use and the council could meet its recycling targets, there was no warning then that we would get charged for it a few years down the line . We are already paying Council Tax , where is all that going ?

I am working and pay full council tax. I use my brown bin and made space available in my garden for it after the council issued it and said it had to be used to segregate garden waste. I never asked for this service but accommodated their request. Now to be asked to pay for this service which I never requested is shocking. This is on top of a council tax increase. Will the people who are exempt from paying council tax also be exempt from this charge but free to still use the service? This is going to make many people go back to fly tipping.

Fly tipping will increase as it has already with the increased charge for bulky uplifts.

What are you thinking? You are already putting up the rate for council tax and increasing the rents.

Don't have a brown bin, so sure as h-ll ain't paying any more money, that's what our council tax is for.

An absolute disgrace of an idea!!

Highland Council brought in the brown bin to increase there recycling target. It was not requested by any householder. It was impossed on us. So why should we now have to bear a charge for this? The idea was to compost the contents and sell the resulting compost. Anyone ever seen it for sale? no me neither. Council tax payers in the Highlands need to get together and refuse to pay this charge. Whats next charge for blue bins and then charge for general uplift? This is an ill thought out charge which will only cause more fly tipping.

The Highland Council are going to increase the amount of Council Tax I have to pay and also the Scottish government are going to increase the amount I have to pay. So to except me to pay an additional £30 is ridiculous!
