Petition Against £30 Charge for Uplifting Brown Bins

Scrap the charge immediately!

Ridiculous idea when we are trying to increase recycling and regulating landfill, not to mention the increase there will be in fly-tipping. How are senior citizens and those who do not drive supposed to get garden waste to the Longman? How do you regulate who has paid and who hasn't when the bins are at the kerbside. Another half baked idea.

I will not be paying the charge

People will just put in green bin so will end up in landfill in black plastic bags!!

At the moment my brown bin if full of leaves even there is none trees in my possession. As a council you only ask for more money but not providing any service. As far as I am aware you should be responsible for cleaning leaves from pavements.

We pay our council tax which has alway included this service this is extortion pure and simple. I wouldn't buy a car only to be told that I now had to purchase the wheels.

Shocking charge and will impact greatly on the elderly, infirm and retired struggling on a pension. A great number of the above turn to gardening as a hobby and fitness\activity, they are also less able to dispose of waste in other ways. Shame on you....

We pay council rates for this kind of thing

I've got my brown bin ready to wheel to the council offices. I have no intention of paying this robbery. My council tax pays for bin emptying and the councillors should remember that. The people will remember this when election time comes around. Dick Turpin is alive and well and living in a Highland Council area.

Pay enough council tax.

If the Highland Council spent less on rubbish and daft ideas they would have to come up with this planned robbery idea. We already pay for bin collections in our council tax. Mark my words if they get away with this then the next will be an extra charge for the blue recycle bin then the green bin will become subject to extra charges. Daylight robbery.

More like council cut back on their expenses

doing a service recycling - what next charge for collecting plastic waste - either you want us to recycle - or just tell us to dump everything in the bin ----- or -------- fly tip !!!!!!!!!!!

I always assumed this was included in our council tax. Very unhappy

No way will we pay this !!!!

We already pay enough council tax without extra charges which no doubt will be spent on posh dining or travel or unnecessary personal expenses

Shocking especially as I pay my council tax now I have to pay £30 annual for what 1 empty off the brown bin in a season

As if they aren't charging us enough in council tax, they now want to do this!!
