Carrot rather than stick, the council should pay people £30 a year to use them

£30 per year to empty a compost bin that they introduced in the 1st place! Thought that was what we paid Council Tax for! Wonder what's next in money generating scams from our local councillors whilst increasing Council taxes at the same time?!

We are paying enough Council Rates to cover this service. Encouraging fly tipping. A step backwards. A proper disgrace.

This is just crazy to expect people to pay for a service, considering no one asked for Brown/Blue/Green bins, in the 1st place. Next it will be charges for Blue/Green bins..... (NO).

Not a well thought through idea. I assume there will be a sticker for the bins who pay? This will be useful for anyone else to locate a suitable bin for THEIR garden stuff. Or - more likely - it will go in the green bin which then need to be emptied more often thus negating any hoped for saving. And it will completely scew up Highland Council recycling policy which is actually pretty good. Also, instead of calling this service a privilege which we should pay for, we should aspire to increase it to other areas who don't have it yet. I don't swim, but my CT pays for the leisure centre. I have no children, but my CT pays for education. Etcetera etcetera ................This idea is more trouble than it is worth.

An ill-conceived & short-sighted decision. What are you going to do with all the returned brown bins?

Unacceptable that we are paying twice for recycling via council tax and now a stealth tax which was only highlighted by news and social media. Council should have written to every household to make aware.

Don't see why we should pay twice!!!

Highland Council should be ashamed of themselves at this pathetic charge of £30. It should ne scrapped with immediate effect.
