I pay for that in my council tax. All garden waste can be recycled and used for compost that the council could sell to cover the costs.

Why should we pay twice for a service? As a council run service which is only provided during the summer months surely it is not necessary to penalise people by charging extra? This charge will lead to fly tipping, hardship to those who either have no way of taking garden waste to the recycling centre, those who simply are not fit enough to load dirty bags of weeds and grass cuttings into a car and those who cannot afford another £30 on their bills.

Raising the council tax charge and imposing this charge? This will lead to fly tipping of garden waste by folk who either can't or won't pay. A step backwards in my opinion.

We already pay council tax.
To ask people who are already struggling, to pay even more, is an outright disgrace.

There are savings to be made, no doubt about it. This proposal, however, is devisive to national policy on waste management and will not contribute to the essential efficiency savings that are required for our local authorities to achieve. I do understand that Highland Council need to make significant savings but this proposal should be left well alone.
