We are paying enough for council tax. Surely the council is making money from recycling the garden waste into compost then selling it on.

Its an abomination that we are to be charged for this service,it is included in our council tax.
The way this charge is being announced is also a disgrace.
What next are we to be charged for pot-hole repairs and watering the plants on the high Street etc.

I understand that the council is short of money but it would be better to follow where people abuse the system such as gardens that are a mess or the inside of a house which is abused.

This should be included in the Council Tax charge not listed as an extra. I assume that it's an optional extra.

Council's are supposed to encourage recycling to reduce the 02 gases - if we have to take our garden rubbish to the recycling centre this will increase the 02 gases. We did not ask for our brown bin so don't think they should be expecting us now to pay. I know £30 is not a lot but it is to some people

I live in a band F house, my Council tax is rising dramatically, now an additional £30!!

It was the council that provided these bins, in the first place!! Now they want us to pay, to get them emptied!?!? Where are all our Tax payments going???... I wonder??

My home comes under band E for council tax so I will have more than 3pc increase in the new taxes and I don't see why I should fork out another £30 for my brown bin to be emptied. Yes I could put my garden waste in the household bin for landfill but that is not free for the council so nobody wins from this charge.

It's disgusting that not only do we have higher council tax bill, rent has gone up and now we have to pay an extra £30 a year for only 6 months service? What on earth do we pay council tax for?
