Petition Against Building Mixed Use Site/826 Houses on Green Belt Land in Rastrick HD6

Please register my objections to the proposed plans to build on green belt 'Farm land' that is enclosed by Mount Pleasant, Dewsbury Road, New Hey Road, Lower Edge Road, Shannon Road, Church Lane, I oppose the plans for the following reasons: This area is already densely populated and has only minimal public access to local green belt; Building on this green belt land will affect the quality of life for residents across the whole area and will remove one of the last open spaces in this densely populated area; The row of houses on Mount Pleasant will encounter loss of light as these properties are through by light only. Any walls/fences/buildings constructed will totally cut off their rear light source and will cause access problems for maintenance upkeep; The row of houses on Mount Pleasant and other properties which overlook the proposed site will suffer significant loss in value; 826 new homes will add significant traffic volumes to all surrounding roads, which are already congested during busy times; Safety concerns for pedestrians and road users with the increased traffic; Public footpaths destroyed; Popular dog walking sites destroyed; Serious damage to local wildlife in the area as they relay on the green belt land to survive. I am horrified to find that Calderdale are even considering these proposals and have not made these well known within the community. The purpose of ‘Green Belt Land’ is to keep the land green and free from buildings. Why bother having these regulations if local authorities just change them when they wish? There are many areas within Calderdale where regeneration of land/buildings could be used without using green belt, supposedly, protected land.

Quite simply do not need them

Huge developments proposed for the destruction of a large proportion of green belt land that is so important to the local community where we all grew up . Now is a time everyone needs to stand up and say no rather than turning a blind eye. If you ever played "down the fields" or "in the woods as a kid" I urge you to sign and share so the kids of today and tomorrow have somewhere to play in the real world... Sites considered for such large scale developments need to be carefully selected so they work within a community not over crowd it and destroy it's thriving natural habitats. It will have not only a environmental effect on the entire local and surrounding areas but also reduce the living standards of the existing residents . Traffic will be a huge problem the entire infrastructure of the area needs to be addressed from amenities such as schools, doctors, dentists etc etc etc. . . Large development corporations are taking advantages of the shortage of affordable housing that is constantly in the news, whilst millions of existing properties lay empty. It is simply a way to generate large profits at the cost regular people...

I believe it would be a disaster for the local area if these plans are to go ahead. It is important that the local countryside is preserved not only for us but for future generations.

Green belt, surely means just that. What is happening to human beings who are trying to deprive people of the beauty and freedom of open spaces. There are thousands of empty buildings all over West Yorks that could be revovated to provide excellent homes.

Seriously concerned about building on green belt - how are you going to mitigate for conservation issues? How are you going to mitigate for the impact on quality of life of existing residents who will lose their access to nature?

The area cannot support this amount of housing our roads are grid locked as it is,the schools and doctors surgeries are full to capacity and last but not least it is encroaching on what little green space we have left This is yet more disregard for Brighouse and it's people by Calderdale council

Two many houses!!! You will deatroy the area of the people already living there, two many cars!!! And destroy the green areas.

Crazy idea.

Green belt is for the environment to still exist. The countryside is a place to relax and enjoy nature. We just want to build everywhere. !?

That's potentially over 1000 children, where will they all go to school? Our schools are already over subscribed and there are no recreational places for the children to play. The impact it will have on our roads will be horrendous, the magnitude of traffic using these roads at peak times is already a nightmare. It will just add to more accidents, especially on the crossroads at the Sun Public house where busses and lorries struggle to get round. Just look at the high kerbstones on the corner that are to stop traffic mounting the kerb. They don't work! Then there is the issue of destroying the wildlife and the beautiful countryside. the little bit we have left....NO NO NO CALDERDALE!!!

There is too much traffic on the roads locally at the moment anymore would be dangerous.

You really need to look and considered the proposals in detail before you do this in future as the area is already overloaded with people in particular the infrastructure. More schools better public transport and better access to the motorway is needed to already contested roads. Additionally the M62 particularly at junction 25 is really overloaded and people should be encouraged to live where the jobs exists to prevent traffic problems. I understand the need for housing but try and use brownfield sights.
