I read this article and had to comment. The insults that were made towards the Northlanders do nothing but add to the anger on both sides. Its time to tell the truth. I will post a link to this article so that you all too can read it.

Bottom line is this, if the city had managed the HUD housing in a more responsible way people wouldn't object. The city has lied to us over and over again. We just passed a tax increase to get more services, sidewalks replaced, more police protection, OH and before that we had to renew the E tax and were told that went for police protection, they lie, they take our tax dollars and throw it at special projects and walk away. If you go to the Fox 4 piece that was done yesterday and read the comments (yes a lot are ugly but it lends itself to the anger we feel and mistrust) you will find a lot of hard working people that are over the lies and are DONE. You can take the above article and you can see the reason "People were not in the mood to bargain,” Monroe said. “They just wanted to shut us down.” Let's address that reason and get to the heart of the true issue that has zero to do with prejudice. We do not trust the city or the developers. They make decisions that BENEFIT them. They honestly don't care about us. The Northland has felt like the ugly step child of the city of YEARS. We don't get the attention to infrastructure or planning that we need, we don't have enough police officers, why? We pay our taxes. We vote. This problem you are seeing goes WAY beyond what they want to address. We are done. We don't believe you. I didn't read one thing in his article above that shows the crime rate (that is higher) or the property values (that are affected negatively) all I read were insults. Way to go! You have definitely fanned the flames more Mr Wagner.

There is no room in our schools in Platte County School District. Until more schools are built for all ages you would taking away from the children who are already crammed in.

Build the HUD housing neighborhood but let everyone apply to live there. The relocation of an entire neighborhood is absurd.

A $30million grant to house 100 families? $300,000 per family? Outrageous corporate subsidy. Why keep the density so high instead of dispersing low income housing in every rental complex? At 4-5% instead of 1 complex with 50%? This is doomed to be a failure like previous projects. Have our City officials learned nothing?

We do not need the inter city relocated to the northland nor do we want property values to go down with section 8 housing nearby.

I think more community involvement and sharing of long terms plans needs to happen before this is approved.
