As home owners we also have the right to know what the impact to property values would be and this information has not been provided. NO ONE looks to buy a life long home for their family near one of these types of developments. It certainly should not be forced on us after we have purchased our homes and settled. I certainly would never have bought my home if I'd know it would be built here or was already present.

Without sounding prejudiced, I moved to an apartment complex in the northland when I first moved to the northland 30 years ago and it was initially owned by private owners. Shortly after it was turned into a section 8 complex. All kinds of riff raff began. Vandalism, arson, rodent infestation, drugs, prostitution..you name it. People don't appreciate things as much when the government pays. I don't want this so close to my peace and serenity

Would you put this in the middle of Johnson county? No, so It doesn't belong here either. We have a fantastic school system that needs to stay that way. There is plenty of land and other areas to rebuild on near this area or rebuild on the chateau property after you tear it down because of it getting condemned. Compare the crime rate between the 2 areas... surely this is a no brainer. Platte/Park hill etc are already overcrowded and this isn't how I want to get a new school built.

I would encourage those wondering about the impacts of low income development projects like this to read a comprehensive study titled "Who Wants Affordable Housing in their Backyard? An Equilibrium Analysis of Low Income Property Development" by Rebecaa Diamond and Tim McQuade, both assistant professors with the Stanford GSB comprised in 2015.

Rationally, if Chouteau Court is "virtually empty" why are we aren't we re-building it in the spot they're already in? Why in the world would we bring this development to a food desert up North? The nearest Hy-vee grocery store is 2.7 miles away, ONE WAY! That's a long walk (in the summer heat or winter snow) with hardly any public transportation available. If the crime rises or not my automobile and home insurance premiums will skyrocket due to the lower average income they use to determine rates for areas. I can argue with them until I'm blue in the face about what fine upstanding people will live in the development, but they won't be fooled either. They'll just charge me more to cover my property. Spend the $90 million grant where it stands and improve the area it's in. Don't waste it fighting the Northland.

No! Too many "unit" buildings/apartments are being built in Platte and Clay right now as it is. There are plenty of older homes and apartments to rent in the North area. Clean up Jackson County and build the funded buildings there!
