Peter was my choir master for 8 years, and organ tutor for 5. I was honoured to be the first organ scholar at RHS for a year post A levels. He is unequivocally the most genius virtuoso organist, talented musician and brilliantly inspirational teacher. Moreover, Peter and his selfless (& patient!) wife Angela, are kind, caring, loyal and genuine, as well as utterly hilarious.

Peter Crompton inspired and nurtured countless young musicians. He also led the Boys and Girls of the Royal Hospital School in the Chapel singing with all our hearts on a daily basis. Where children may be shy and not want to sing he nurtured the culture of singing with all our heart in what we called the Holbrook Sound

A man of infectious enthusiasm for music, and such charisma.
Won't forget him raising the roof with his talent on a poorly old organ at our village church!
Peter richly deserves this honour.

I have fond memories of Peter who I met when I was a French assistant at RHS ... 44 years ago !
And I'll always remember the week we spent here with our mutual friend Don Hawkley.
This should have been done long ago’
