This petition is for Erotic Intelligence to become a permanent course within Naropa’s Contemplative Psychology program. The course offers invaluable education on sexuality and eroticism, which is vital for fuller human expression and a deeper understanding of psychology. By continuing to offer this class, Naropa will ensure more rounded, intelligent, vibrant students who will bring even more into the world. Each year this class is over-registered, showing the immense interest in the topic. We eagerly propose that this course be offered once a year as part of the Contemplative Psychology program at Naropa. We appreciate you considering our request.

The administration has acknowledged the volume of interest regarding the Erotic Intelligence course. I am currently finalizing a formal proposal to present to the department chair later this week.

Sexuality and eroticism effects our psychology on both an inherent level and because of its prevalence in the media every moment of every day. Yet we are not discussing it, not to the level we need to. Not incorporating eroticism into psychology in an investigative and thoughtful way is not only problematic, but negligent and leaves students ill prepared to address something that is deeply prevalent and affecting in the field.
I have not taken this course, but I deeply believe in the value of educating about sexuality in a professional setting. Our culture actively represses sexuality in so many ways, educating about it is one of the few ways we can take it back. I believe any contemplative psychology program is incomplete without addressing sexuality
This information is profoundly lacking in our society and in our educational systems. By offering this class Narolpa will be better supporting students to be able to opperate more fully in the world and in their own lives.
I have heard about nothing but incredible experiences from students who have taken this class. I have not had the opportunity to work it into my class schedule, and it is very important to me that I am able to in the years to come. It is a Naropa class that is discussed among students above many others. Please make it permanent!!
This class has completely shifted my belief systems around sexuality and given me a safe and open platform to normalize the conversation around sex. I sense of community is palpable. I truly feel that this course should be part of the CORE Naropa Curriculum, instead of simply a special topics course that is only offered periodically.

Positive sex education should be a part of the Naropa experience. With sex being such a trigger for so many people, we desperately need something like this.
