Pepperdine University School of Law Community in Opposition to the Invitation of Justice Thomas to the School of Law Dinner

I am a Seaver alumna who worked at the law school while I was an undergraduate. I am also a Black woman who is horrified by this. It sends a very clear message about what the university stands for, and I am not sure where that leaves me.

I can’t believe Pepperdine would get a prestigious Supreme Court Justice to speak at their event! I remember getting my PP touched at church camp in 97’, boy those were the days. Rock on Pooperdine.

I was sexually harassed at Pepperdine Graziadio and Dean Michael Williams, Diane Singel and President Benton did nothing about it and readmitted my offender into another program and I filed a Grievance but no solution !

It is extremely disappointing that my boyfriend, who is a law student at Pepperdine, and I do not get to attend his last law school dinner. The previous dinners we attended I felt were about inclusion and helping others. This was obviously just bad timing and poor taste.

I was a visiting faculty scholar in the Dispute Resolution program. I support the students expressing opposition to the Thomas invite. Would like you to use some ADR skills in resolving the dispute.
