Chickens are simple animals to care for with great benefits. It's shocking thast a City like Beachwood that cares so much for trees, greenspaces and nature would ignore something this obvious!

With all due respect, I would think Beachwood city officials have bigger fish to fry than removing these chickens from their home and their responsible family! The ordinance should be changed to allow a minimal number of chickens per location in our community.

In Norma New Jersey we had chickens....why not Beachwood, Ohio!!
YM's great uncle [my grandfather] had 250,000 chickens so he should at least be allow a few!

The city of Beachwood should not have the jurisdiction to determine the ownership of free range chickens for its residents. The chickens, there are a few not an abundance, are household pets. They are restricted to their property and cause no harm to surrounding residents. In the Mayerfeld case, there is plenty of land for them to roam without disruption. The chickens teach the children responsibility. Yes, a more common pet can facilitate the same yet the ability to provide eggs daily (a natural occurrence!) adds a whole new level of education. The chickens are loved and well taken care of.
