Anything that teaches kids how to care for and value animals, and helps them understand where food comes from should not only not be illegal but should be supported and encouraged by local government.

My boys love to go to the Mayerfelds and play with their chickens. It is such a unique experience for so many neighborhood children, it would be a real shame to take that opportunity away from so many children.

Raising chickens gives kids a sense of responsibility, and, from harvesting the eggs, a deeper understanding of the food chain. More communities (including Beachwood ) should allow them.

The chickens are very friendly and a great teaching tool for the kids.

Backyard chickens make wonderful pets, especially for kids. They're educational and fun to have around. I don't see why Beachwood residents shouldn't be allowed to have them.

I don׳t see a problem in allowing the Meyerfelds to keep chicken, especially for the reasons that Lidsey mentioned.

I know this family very well and these chickens are a part of their sweet family life. Each of their 5 sons plus a host of their friends in the community love these chickens. It would be a shame to take them away!

Beachwood prides itself on having nice properties and a somewhat"rural" feel. Having some chickens around definitely enhances that aura.

We would like to see the ordinances amended to permit chickens in Beachwood.

I fully support the right to maintain the chickens, bot has pets and as a sustainable resource.
