Why Beachwood thinks chickens are more harmful than dogs? Children learn responsibility and more from raising chickens. However, people walking dogs can take the entire driving lane which disrupts the traffic.

I recently moved to Beachwood and left my 4 chickens behind. They are all hens, extremely friendly and I’ve raised them since they were 3 days old. I have a perfect fenced in yard for them and a beautiful coop to keep them in. I hope your petition makes it and we can bring them to our new home. My children are so heartbroken to leave them behind. They’ve been an amazing distraction and learning experience during this pandemic

My children love the chickens! They teach the kids great life skills like how to feed them, clean them, respect them, etc. We would be so sad if these chickens wouldn't be allowed to stay in Beachwood.

I've always considered Beachwood a progressive, enlightened community so I'm surprised that the city leaders are not aware of the vast amount of research showing the benefits of chicken iwnership

All the reasons stated are completely true. Additionally, chickens have been shown to decrease childhood allergies and asthma, etc. Finally, if the neighbors don't mind, why should there be an issue?

Dogs are much more of a hazard, danger and nuisance and Beachwood allows them. Why discriminate against chickens?

My hens are clean, quiet and odorless and I'm sure their's are, too. There is no reason to take these pets from their owners.

I'm a Beachwood resident and do support my neighbors having pet chickens.

What harm are the chickens causing? They don't spread feces all over the neighborhood that doesn't get picked up by irresponsible owners, ( Have this problem in our town). They don't attack people and the dogs that are being leash-walked. ( My grandpup was attacked by neighbor's loose dog while we went for our leash walk to my mailbox on my own property, causing a huge vet bill and trauma for the pup and me). And they provide a healthy source of protein in their eggs.

Chickens have always been an essential part of American self-sufficiency. They have so many wonderful benefits (food, recycling scraps, pets) and absolutely no downside. If dogs and cats are allowed, it seems rather arbitrary to disallow chickens. We certainly love ours.

I was extremely disappointed when City Council didn't revise the city codes around chickens. Families in Beachwood can and should be allowed to enjoy chickens if they so choose. I fully agree with the petition: chickens are an environmentally- and family-friendly way to make healthy choices. The Council should reconsider its stance on chickens.

I own a home at 27099 North Woodland in Beachwood, and as a taxpayer I vote yes to keep the chickens!
