By far the worst internet provider I have ever used. I conplained to the FCC about slow data connection. They made it sound like I was the problem and I used all of my data when in fact the speed was barely faster when they put 2 extra gigs of data on the account to test it. When I first moved to my new house they told me they were the only provider in my area that could provide internet. Come to find out, that was false. I can get US Cellulars mobile hotspot. 70 dollars for 90 gigs of 4g LTE which is faster then what they provide me. 10 gigs at .3MBPS .7MBPS when I have data.

Spoke to 2 separate representatives before purchasing. Told them we were a family of 6. Four teenage kids each with a phone, 4 computers, 5 TVs, 2 echos and two xboxes. Our current internet we use 250 gb a month but could only get about 1.5 mbs. They told me the 20 gb plan would be more than enough because speeds so much faster that we would use less data. Then once we capped out we would still get at the slowest 3 mbs. So that was twice as fast as we were currently getting so we switched. First month they give you extra data so you dont notice, second month they give you tokens and send someone out to move it in your home. Then they tell you you maxed out so thats why it's slow. It's not slow it's not even registering 0.4 mbs. Well you have two many devices. I turned all off but my phone, printer and echo dot and I have to many devices. I use 20 gb in two days. That's without even watching video. They lie to get you to sign them tell you it's on some small print somewhere that they warn it is extremely slow once data is maxed. Its ducks to live in the country and pay $80 for 2-5 days of internet. Our kids have failed assignments because they couldnt watch the videos for school or load digital programs. They should not be allowed to lie to their customers.

I have first hand seen the so called service from this company. It’s pretty sad what you are charging people and the terrible service they receive. Shame on you.

couldn't get rid of them fast enough - they work it so you have to buy extra internet time from them, not to mention rotten service.

The amount of money wasted on this service is terrible. Promised service capability does not match service provided. The amount of money generated by the State of Illinois, and the intercontinental United States, is more than sufficient for supporting hard-wired services throughout the Midwest. It is a shame that such a large company that is heavily funded by our federal dollars provides such horrible services with zero accountability.

HughesNet essentially perpetuates a fraud by telling you based on your number of devices that a small plan will be sufficient. Then for the first 30 days (satisfaction period) tops off your data allowance daily providing you with high speed. Then after that time, which contractually obligates you, the data never lasts more than 1 week with basic usage. I asked repeatedly based on the fact that I work from home, if it would be enough or handle my needs. I was assured it would ... it NEVER has. It is impossible to stream any sort of video. I end up running my business from my cellphone hotspot.
