Tell Penn State to Stop Advertising Addictive Online Gambling Products to Its Students!

College mission: educate and prepare students for meaningful, productive careers and contributions to society. Gambling is an unwelcome distraction. Do not associate with it.

I encourage the Penn State leadership to take a look at the University’s written values. By promoting gambling, Penn State clearly violates several of its own values. These values include “Responsibility” and “Community”.

Penn State should NOT be promoting gambling, especially to students!

I'm deeply saddened that Penn State University, my alma mater, is advertising addictive gambling products that the university itself knows is harmful to impressionable students. How is this caring for your student body? PSU--we alumni and community residents expect better of you than this!

I just signed this petition. I urge others to do so. Getting college freshmen addicted to on-line gambling is beyond disgusting. I can't think of a single good reason for Penn State to promote smart phone and on-line gambling to FRESHMEN! I am thoroughly disgusted. Young people have enough problems getting financially stable without this kind of predatory behavior on the part of their UNIVERSITIES!

My daughter got her doctorate at Penn State, so I am very interested in this situation. I am appalled that any university would encourage college FRESHMEN to get involved in on-line gambling. Disgusting!

Penn State shouldn't advertise potentially harmful products or services to its students and community.

It is nonsensical for an educational organization such as Penn State to be affiliated with the lottery.

So far removed from what I would expect from an institution of higher learning it makes me cringe!

Tacky, dangerous, and not in line with the university's mission.

PSU is tasked to educate its students. This partnership violates the University's primary mission by enticing students to engage in potentially addictive influences akin to those called out in the widely published Penn State Principles. This is such hypocritical messaging.

Since 1 in 20 college students show all the signs of compulsory gambling, which is a totally unhealthy addiction for college students, please do not advertise gambling at your ball games, other sports, or any other avenue.

I attended PSU in the early 2000’s and love this University. I don’t want students to struggle with gambling before they understand how to manage money in the world outside of university life.

Our university students don’t need this. It will bring nothing but addition and loss of funds!

As a PSU alum, I am shamed by the the University's decision to support such unsavory activity.

Do not the Penn State University Administration and its Board of Trustees know, understand, or care about the words and meaning of Penn State's Alma Mater? Here are Verses 3 and 4: " When we stood at childhood's gate, Shapeless in the hands of fate, Thou didst mold us, dear old State, Dear old State, dear old State. May no act of ours bring shame, To one heart that loves thy name. May our love but swell thy fame, Dear old State, dear old State. "

What a sickening way for our Commonwealth to generate revenue for social programs. Why do we believe in gambling with people's lives instead of creating a healthy, robust, and solid social safety net? We can do so much better than relying on the PSU brand and playing with people's vulnerabilities to generate revenue for social programs. We need a fair share tax, instead of redistributing wealth through gaming, and a sustainable economy. When will we advertise those things that would be good for humanity and all life on earth?

I really do not want this casino at the Nittany Mall. We'll have to deal with homeless people and people that need to steal for gambling and drugs. Just like the "Fireworks" store that they put on the Benner Pike. I HAVE NOT seen any customers at the store.

This lessens the student vocus of gaining a degree.
