My band does this and it really helps keep more people in the class.

Marching Band should definitely be considered as a PE credit my high school does. There so much physical work that goes into marching like keeping in time doing a 8 min show while playing a instrument cutting across entire football field at tempos most can’t keep up with. Also, some bands like mine we run 1 to 2 laps around the football field before practice even starts. So many don’t understand what goes into doing marching band!

I swear, kids in marching band work so hard. It's far harder than baseball, soccer, football, or any other sport at that. Every school should give pe credits for marching band.

Band can be a very athletic activity, especially at the beginning of the year during Marching Band.

3 of my kids went through the LOER marching band program, and I can attest it is very physically demanding, as well as a disciplined competition sport. I support PE credit for marching band.

Band already takes an elective slot. Kids want to continue with music education but with all of the other requirements for that elective slot, it is a challenge. Giving PE credit would free up one year’s worth of elective slot. Marching band teaches about team work, stretching, and hydration in addition to providing a lot of physical activity. I believe it is reasonable and hope Sobrato does this.

Marching Band has been and always will be a sport and it should count for PE credits because there is physical education for things like proper breathing, endurance, and proper stretching.
My band does this and it really helps keep more people in the class.
