Marching band is a physical activity because it requires walking or running in a form at a very high tempo. Also instruments are being played which means they aren’t able to breathe for a lot of it

i took p.e. as a freshman last year and for one semester this year and it was awful. the coach was mean and in that class we did nothing but football( which i don’t like) and then sat on our phones the rest of the time when we were done. i could have been working on my tosses ( like 45s) and my show routines. but instead i had to sit on my phone and that made me mad. BAND SHOULD BE COUNTED TOWARDS OUR PE CREDIT! ( and fine arts credit still)

At my high school in Texas, marching band is considered a PE credit. I never took a PE credit in high school.

I've literally taken P.E. untill highschool and I joined marching band. I've lost more weight, became more active, and was more aware of my health in marching band than I was in PE.
It shouldve been considered as a credit a long time ago, people just don't see our practices and just assume it's walking.

Marching band is herder than most sports and it should be treated as so.

The about energy and focus it take to do this sport is way more than what some sports demand

This is allowed at my school, and I feel that it should be allowed. Sports allow a PE exemption, and for us, as long as its physical, it counts.

We have it at our school even though we have to do it for all 4 years to get it and the sheer exertion used while marching is more than enough for a PE credit.
